Bulwark Black LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the VADisabilityCalculator mobile application (the “App”). We understand that you are trusting us with potentially sensitive information related to your military service and disability status.

The app performs disability calculations and stores saved claim information and documents on your device. It does not upload this content to a Bulwark Black account.

This policy distinguishes local claim information from purchase processing through Apple and RevenueCat, device backups, files you choose to share, and websites you open.

Your Local Claim Information

We do not collect the following from the app's local claim content:

This does not include information you voluntarily send us for support, purchase-related information, backups, exported files, or external websites. Those activities are separate from local claim storage.

How We Ensure Your Privacy

Core claim features use on-device processing and storage:

  • ✅ Your PIN/biometric security is device-only

Local claim storage is separate from purchase services:

  • The app does not upload your saved claim content to a Bulwark Black server
  • We do not use any analytics that track your calculations
  • RevenueCat processes purchase-related information separately from your claim content
  • Device backups and copies you choose to export are managed outside the app's local storage

Advertising and Purchase Information

1. Advertising (House Ads)

We show our own advertisements directly in the app. The house-ad implementation stores impression and click counts locally on the device. Tapping an ad opens the advertised website, where that website's privacy policy applies.

  • We do not ask for or use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not share your device information with any advertising network.
  • Because we choose the ads ourselves, no outside ad company profiles you to serve them.

2. Purchase Data (RevenueCat)

For processing in-app purchases and managing your ad-free status, RevenueCat collects:

  • Anonymous User ID: A random app user identifier created by RevenueCat, rather than a name or email supplied by the app
  • Purchase Receipt: Apple’s purchase receipt to verify and restore your purchases
  • Purchase Events: When you purchase or restore the ad-free version
  • Device Information: Basic device model and OS version for purchase compatibility

Important about RevenueCat:

  • RevenueCat does NOT receive any of your disability data
  • RevenueCat does NOT receive your name or email
  • RevenueCat processes purchase records, app user identifiers, and related technical information to manage purchase status
  • Your Apple ID remains private – RevenueCat uses anonymous identifiers
  • Apple handles payment processing; RevenueCat verifies purchases and manages ad-free entitlements

Third-Party Services

Advertising (First-Party)

House ads promote products selected by Bulwark Black. Their images are included in the app. The local ad counter is separate from any data processed by a website you choose to open.

To advertise with us, email support@bulwarkblack.com. You can also purchase the ad-free version to remove all advertisements permanently.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to process in-app purchases and manage purchase status. RevenueCat’s practices:

  • RevenueCat Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
  • RevenueCat processes purchase-related data, app user identifiers, and related technical information
  • The app does not send disability calculations, notes, or documents to RevenueCat
  • The app uses RevenueCat-generated app user identifiers and does not supply a name or email

Apple Technologies

The app uses Apple frameworks for local storage. Depending on your device settings, app data may be included in device or iCloud backups. Files you export may be stored in Files, iCloud Drive, or another destination you choose. These copies are separate from the app's local storage.

When you open a resource or advertisement, the destination website may process information under its own privacy policy. Visiting a website is separate from using the app's offline features.

In-App Purchases

When you purchase the ad-free version:

  • The transaction is handled entirely by Apple
  • RevenueCat receives purchase and receipt information to verify and restore your ad-free status
  • Apple handles payment details; purchase records are processed through RevenueCat
  • The purchase status is stored locally on your device and verified by RevenueCat
  • Your purchase can be restored on any device using the same Apple ID

Data Security

Your Data’s Security

For claim content stored in the app:

  • It’s protected by your device’s security (Face ID, Touch ID, PIN)
  • It’s encrypted by iOS when your device is locked
  • It may be included in device or iCloud backups, depending on your settings
  • Copies you export or share are handled by the destination and recipients you choose

App Security Features

  • Optional PIN/biometric lock for app access
  • Automatic lock when app goes to background
  • Calculations and document storage operate locally
  • Purchase verification uses Apple and RevenueCat separately from local claim content

Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control:

1. Advertising Choices

  • Purchase the ad-free version to remove all advertisements.

2. Data Deletion

  • Delete any saved profile within the app
  • Clear all notes through the app interface
  • Deleting the app removes its local data; backups, exported files, and purchase records must be managed separately
  • RevenueCat data: Contact privacy@revenuecat.com for deletion requests

3. Data Portability

  • Export your calculations via the share feature
  • Save documents to your device’s Files app
  • Exported copies are managed through the destination and sharing options you choose

4. Purchase Management

  • Restore purchases on any device with your Apple ID
  • Cancel subscriptions through Apple (though we only offer one-time purchases)
  • Request refunds through Apple’s standard process

Special Commitments for Veterans

We recognize that our users are veterans dealing with sensitive disability information. We make these additional commitments:

  • No Data Mining: We will never analyze or mine disability data
  • No Selling Data: We will never sell any information to third parties
  • Claim Content: The app does not upload your stored disability information or documents to our servers
  • No Profiling: We will never create profiles based on disability information
  • No Marketing: We will never use disability information for marketing
  • Purchase Identifiers: The app uses RevenueCat-generated identifiers rather than supplying your name or email

Children’s Privacy

Our App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app is designed for adult veterans managing their VA benefits.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Updating the “Last updated” date
  • Showing an in-app notification after update
  • Posting a prominent notice in the app
